After lecture on Sat morning, our group had lunch together at Biz canteen. Ideas were thrown onto the table, some were accepted others were'nt so hot.
1. dating consultancy/image consultancy
not really a dating agency like SDU.one-on-one, thus not interactional in nature.emphasis is on marriage, and not just dating.aims to help people acquire the skills that will make them more attractive to the opposite sex, or the woman/man they have in mind to attract.target single people who have low elf-esteem, self-image etc etc etc.
2. retirement village for old folks
the government is already working on it.have retirement villages overseas (or planning to).
3. entertainment similar to clubs
for young people under the age of 18.they cannot go to clubs as the age limit is 18.but they have the spending power.and we want their money!tea parties an almost similar idea.where non-alcoholic drinks are served as they cannot drink as yet.they also have a curfew which would impede their ability to go out and party late at night.but who parties in the afternoon?!
4. personalized tour guides
not such a good idea as travel agencies are already offering these services to those who can afford it.
5. healthy-living restaurant
very well-received idea.selling just pure fruits and vegetables.restaurant cum dieting consultancy?healthy meal plans, calorie counts and any health-related stuff. we sell food and at the same time give out recipes so people can make healthy food on their own.would need health experts, nutritionists, doctor maybe.want to target on the diet not so much of exercising, which could be done at the gyms or elsewhere.for the public, no membership required.thus affordable for the working class.however high competition.food is everywhere in Singapore.and this healthy eating concept is not entirely new.
6. catered breakfast
delivering breakfast 24 hours a day.like waffles (varun's favorite!)people have cravings for food at night.not uncommon.especially in university halls and hostels?could probably make the food healthier.although no one craves for healthy food in the middle of the night.and healthy food is bland.
7. food stores to cater to busy working people
for people on the go.when they have no time to sit down and have a hearty breakfast.we will have stores which sell pastries, and anything that can be eaten on the go.mobile vans?delivery?
8. bus services after 12 am
there is night rider.which operates in the central areas of Singapore.
9. men's lingerie
kinky.for women to dress their men up.but would they?people would probably go for brand instead.
10. one shoe fits all
not too bad an idea.but product creation would be a problem.
11. personal shopping
stores already offer this service to the rich and famous.not profitable if customers do not buy.delivery costs etc.
12. comedy club
there is one in Singapore.no further discussion on this topic.
13. funeral and coffin services
make the funeral more fun.include a theme.in Singapore?maybe not so good.mostly religious where they already have their own "theme" ie. Taoist, Muslim, Hindu etc etc etc.death still a sensitive and probably taboo subject in Singapore.cannot party and smile at someone's funeral.
14. educational services and materials
many many many such services in Singapore.government also playing a big part in it.tough competition.
15. theme park for the old
that would just kill them.kill them.considered other kinds of rides that are less life-threatening for the old.like merry-go-rounds?Ferris wheel?
16. cheaper and more efficient forms of transport for tertiary students
in Singapore?the best you can get is probably the MRT.car and petrol prices are wayyy tooo high.
17. more money for us!
existing job agencies that help students look for jobs.
finally...
we brainstormed names for our group.
alphateam (aka the A Team)
the team (THE team)
the right stuff (but our stuff gotta be RIGHT, right? what if we do something wrong like kill the old people, eradicate them?? which was on the minds of a few of our group members.they were probably kidding.probably...)
the good stuff! (which is our group's name now!)
that's all for now.
